Program Description

The Polish Language and Culture course provides a study experience at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. The course features practical language training in Polish, and an exploration of Polish culture. Over three weeks, students participate in Polish language, culture, history, literature, and contemporary issues. In addition, this travel/study course offers a variety of cultural and social activities in and around Krakow that give students a unique opportunity to see some of the masterpieces of Polish art and architecture.

Students must register in POL 2690 A60 Polish Language and Culture (6 credit hours)

Details on the course are available online on Aurora. Academic fees are payable to the University of Manitoba. Tuition fees vary for international students.


All participants applying for the Travel Study course must have the approval of the instructor, and must attend pre-trip sessions, complete assignments, and attend all travel/study sponsored events to be eligible for academic credit.


  • Students are required to attend pre-trip sessions.
  • In order to participate in a travel/study course, all students must sign an Acknowledgement of Responsibility and Liability Waiver that outlines risk and shared responsibility associated with travel/study.
  • A passport is required.

Travel Fees

  • Travel fee is $1,030 (subject to change), which includes accommodation (university residence), tuition at Jagiellonian University, most meals, excursions, and textbooks. The excursions are included in the travel fee.
  • Airfare, personal expenses, health and trip cancellation insurance, as well as University of Manitoba tuition, are not included. Students are responsible for arranging return travel to Krakow, Poland, in accordance with the published course dates.
  • A $500 deposit (by cheque payable to the University of Manitoba) is due by April 29, 2016 to secure a seat in the course. Applications may be accepted later, space permitting.
  • Travel fees must be paid by Cash, VISA, MasterCard, or Bank Transfer directly to the University of Jagiellonian on or before July 2, 2016.
