Learning Opportunities for Older Adults

The University of Manitoba is an Age-Friendly University and part of the Age-Friendly University Global Network. A key component of an Age-Friendly University is lifelong learning – encouraging older adults to participate in educational programs, including access to online learning opportunities.

In an effort to fulfill this goal, Extended Education at the University of Manitoba has joined forces with the University of Alberta and Edmonton Lifelong Learning Association (ELLA), and the Lifelong Learning Centre (LLC) at the University of Regina to make available a broad range of online courses and programs geared to older adults. The courses range from short talks to full term courses – some are free, while others have an associated course fee. All courses are accessible online.

There is no better time to get involved in lifelong learning that can be accessed in the comfort of your own home. Interested? Click on the links below to check out what’s available in the upcoming spring term at each university. Registration is easy and details are available on the websites. It is important to note that in order to take programs and courses with ELLA (UAlberta) you must first sign up as a member. Information on becoming a member is available on their website. Membership is not required to take courses with LLC (URegina) but if you become a member, you are eligible for discounted course fees.
