International student update

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, courses for the Fall 2021 term will be offered through a live, synchronous and asynchronous remote delivery in Central Standard Time. We expect the Winter 2022 term to be the same as there will still be strict social distancing guidelines that will affect room occupancy. Government policies dictate what the university can and cannot do. Extended Education is closely monitoring the situation and will transition to in-person delivery methods only once it has been deemed safe to do so by the appropriate federal, provincial and university authorities.

What instructors say

“Accounting is kind of a dry subject but it’s exciting when you get to the real world and you’re putting it to practical use. I love teaching. I like to give my international students the flavors of Canada in language and phrases. My goal is to give them a good grasp and knowledge of the language we call accounting, that they are excited not just about what I am teaching but also about being here and learning Canadian things.”

Frank Nowak
Contract Instructor
Extended Education at the U of M

“I really actually can’t image what it’s like to pick up stakes and move halfway across the world. So, I see my job both as delivering the academic material and also explaining some Canadian things. Helping my students to thrive in the Canadian workplace is what I’m after. I am trying to make sure my students learn everything that they have to and that they actually understand it.”
